An Incredible Opportunity for your Children: A Free D-Day Electronic Field Trip sponsored by the The National WWII Museum

The 75th Anniversary of D-Day Electronic Field Trip is presented by The Cain Foundation in Honor of the Men of the 30th Infantry Division and all WWII Veterans!

On May 2, 2019, The National WWII Museum will stream a live interactive journey into D-Day, the largest amphibious invasion in history and a turning point in World War II. Guided by student reporters from the United States, England, Canada, and France, classrooms around the world will embark on a virtual transatlantic adventure to discover the lessons and legacies of Operation Overlord, the code name for the massive Allied invasion of Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944.

LTD loves meaningful travel!  We encourage everyone to travel with their children to accomplish at least five benefits and some of the science behind why you should make traveling with your children a priority.  Here are the five things that your child may gain from family travel:

1. happiness
2. brain development
3. education
4. health
5. time

BUT, not everyone has the means or the time to meet their travel goals constantly. As we pointed out in our five part series, sometimes you can bring the experience to your family in ways other than traveling to far off lands in person!

Visiting the beaches of Normandy and then D-Day Landing sites of WWII are among the most incredible experiences we have ever had! But what if your family cannot go there in person? The National WWII Museum has this free opportunity for your children funded by generous donations!

The National World War II Museum in NOLA has put together an electronic field trip to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion:

"Commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day and embark on a virtual transatlantic adventure to the sites where D-Day history was made. Guided by student reporters from the United States, England, Canada, and France, this journey will provide insights into the largest amphibious invasion in history. Your students will discover the lessons and legacies of Operation Overlord as they explore the coast of southern England, the iconic invasion sites in Normandy, France, and participate in a special remembrance at the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach."

EVERY DAY, MEMORIES OF WORLD WAR II—ITS SIGHTS AND SOUNDS, ITS TERRORS AND TRIUMPHS—DISAPPEAR.

Not only will this be an educational experience to understand the sacrifices of GREATEST GENERATION but maybe it will inspire youth to travel and make memories.
